WELCOME NOTE FROM THE BSG PRESIDENT
The society has visited this conference centre in Glasgow many times and knows how it is well equipped to put on an excellent meeting. Also, as the British Society of Gastroenterology it is really important that we make sure that gastroenterology is strongly supported north of the border. Many thanks to the many people who have contributed to putting together such an exciting programme, with an excellent mix of research presentations, updates and posters. As ever there is a strong international flavour. The meeting will give us a chance to reflect on the increasingly divergent health policies in the devolved nations within the UK, and the implications for our specialty. I very much look forward to welcoming you to the BSG 2013 meeting in Glasgow – it will be educationally rewarding, and it will also be fun!

Sir Ian Gilmore
President British Society of Gastroenterology
